TRACECA is honored invited guest to the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement 2018

The Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement titled “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development”, is underway in Baku.

Senior Officials meeting has started on April 3-4 as a part of preparation for the Ministerial Conference and continue till 5th April 2018.

The Conference is a key opportunity for NAM Member States, Observer States, Organizations and Guests Countries to get together and to address the changing international security environment as well as to exchange views on how to respond effectively to challenges standing nowadays.

The opening speeches were made by H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and H.E. Mr. Jorge Arreaza, Venezuelan Foreign Minister, who is the chair of the NAM ministerial conference.

The meeting today is taking place at a moment when the international community and the Non-Aligned Movement countries face new challenges and opportunities for peace, security and sustained growth.

The participants of the meeting emphasized endeavors of the states to create a peace where justice, prosperity and security should be based on the legal principles. This will also be a bridge to the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement by Azerbaijan for the duration of the next three years.

The Non-Aligned Movement includes 120 states. Seventeen states and 10 international organizations hold observer status of NAM.
